We are pleased to announce that Dee Woods will be coming to Sheffield University to be our second speaker in our Food Do-ers series.
Deirdre (Dee) Woods is a multi talented community specialist and award winning cook, edible educator, urban agriculturalist, broadcaster, and independent researcher, with over 25 years experience of working in diverse communities.
Recognised for her work with Granville Community Kitchen and advocating good food for all, Dee was awarded BBC Food and Farming Awards, Cook of the Year and London Slow Food Ambassador in 2016. Dee continues to practice as a community food educator, is a Visiting Research Associate at CAWR, Coventry University and a member of the GLA London Food Board. Dee is a co-editor of the recently published “A People’s Food Policy” and a co-author of ” Towards A Resilient Food System for London, Policy Proposals and Directions” as a member of the Community Food Growers Network(CFGN). The latter being part of a wider compact for London, Towards A Community Led Plan for London, by Just Space.
Dee is committed to using and promoting sustainable agricultural and good food practices by developing projects to practically address issues around food literacy, access, sovereignty, social justice, democracy and resilience. Actively involved in the discourse, Dee is lobbying for community led policy development change and promotes diversity and inclusion in food movements at local, national and European level.
We hold our food do-ers series 4 times a year and invite people who are working (and getting paid) to support people to have access to food and to enjoy the food they eat.
